Isaiah

Hello everyone! It's nice to be back. I have pushed blogging and crocheting to the side for a while to spend some quality time with my sister and her family who have recently visited us from San Diego, California. Obviously, from the pictures above, I finally got to meet my nephew, Isaiah. Yay!! He is the cutest little thing I have laid my eyes on.  He's so charming and friendly. He smiles at everybody he sees that's why everyone has fallen in love with him. If you follow my blog, I'm sure you've seen the beanie and booties that I made for him. I'm so happy it fits him perfectly. Doesn't he look adorable with those bear ears? I hope they warm him up during the cold seasons over there in the US. Too bad it was only for 10 days as my sister needs to go back to work. I really miss them, especially baby Izzy. I guess life is just like that. You don't always get what you want but God is still good. Anyway, I promise to post more as I have a lot more time on my hands now. I hope you all are healthy and happy wherever you may be. <3

Dreams of Fairy Dusts and Magic Wands

flower crowns are so in this year.. so I just had to make myself one..

10 o'clock flower
a late happy independence day to all!
Photos by Anna

I know fairies aren't real and magic is just for children but sometimes you wish you had them. If you haven't noticed yet the crochet lace top that I was working on is finally done. yay! I was so happy I had to go to the park and take some snaps. Thanks to my best friend and cousin, Anna and Ainest, who I tagged along. It was a lovely day at the park. Not too sunny, but park security was such a pain. They blew the whistle every time we stepped on the grass. I guess grasses are too expensive these days. Maybe that's why there's not a lot of those lying around here in the Philippines. But it was definitely fun times. Anyway back to the magic, I worked on it for at least a month. When you're working on a project like this it feels like it takes forever to finish. You always dream of the time when you can drop the hook, cut the yarn and finally wear the piece. I wish there were fairy dusts and magic wands I can whip out and make my hands crochet so fast I could finish a project in a day. Sadly I don't live in Disney World or in Neverland. Every stitch has to be painstakingly done as it should, and the end result is a labor of love. Now I'm on to my next project. Here's the pattern for the crochet lace top. I used a different yarn and added sleeves to mine for modesty. As they say, modesty never goes out of style. I hope all of you have a lovely day.

Let's Get Personal

Do you remember back in highschool when autograph books were cool so you buy one and ask your friends to answer questions about themselves? Well, this is sort of like that. The first part is all about me. So if you already know or don't want to know anything about me, you can skip that part. The second part are questions about crochet me and Anna, my best friend, thought of. The third part are random questions I found on my favorite beauty guru blogger. We had a lot of fun doing this so I hope you have fun reading it as well. It's going to be a long one so you might want to get a cup of Joe, juice or tea whichever you prefer. Some text are smaller than normal. I tried to fix it but it won't budge. Let's begin shall we.

Do you have any siblings?
Yes, i have 2 sisters. One lives in California, USA the other lives in heaven.

What's your top/dress size?
I'm a medium Filipino size, 2/4 American Size
Do you have any diet plans/tips?
No. If you would ask me this question five years ago I would say go vegetarian ‘cause I was for 2 years, but went back to eating meat. I was too skinny back then and pale as a ghost.

It depends. I like to use a bigger hook for projects that I want to finish fast.

Favourite Stitch?
Cable stitch which is a Front Post or Back Post double crochet.

Longest time on a single project?
It was my first crochet project back in highschool. It took me two months to finish a pillowcase that I had to submit on a contest…nerve wrecking but definitely good memories.

Do you buy yarn more than necessary?
Thank God this isn’t a crime cause I would be guilty.
Do you think of your next project while you’re working on something else?
Doesn’t everybody?  I think that’s the thrill of crocheting. You’re constantly dreaming of future projects and working as fast as you can to finish whatever you’re working on. It’s a never ending cycle. That’s what got me hooked in the first place.

Baby Love

Alright people. I know what you're thinking. Can anything be much more cuter than this? Well, there is, and that is my nephew Isaiah who will soon be sashaying these in the streets of San Diego, California. I can't believe I made these in 2 days. If any of you are wondering why I didn't use the Baby Soft yarn, that's because it was too soft. It probably works better as blanket or a sweater which is what I think I'll use that for. But anywho, I am in love with these two and super excited to see Baby Isaiah wear this. I found both patterns at Pinterest and found it very easy for beginners to follow. I usually prefer a pattern in diagram form but in this case the pattern was in text form but if you know crochet lingo it won't be too hard. Don't worry I will link both patterns as I always do. The beanie with bear ears was a bit tricky. I'm not sure if it would fit my nephew the right way. The booties were easier once you've done the first one. I think I made the other booty in an hour. I'm also working on a blouse right now but I keep on putting it on hold since I was too busy to crochet the past week so I probably need two more weeks to finish it. I hope you have a blessed day everybody.

Click on the words beanie and booties for the link to the patterns.

Happy Crocheting!

Yarn Princess

My craft/sewing/hobby area
A basket full of goodies
Red Heart worsted yarn in Painted Desert, and Artist Print
Lion Brand Cotton Ease in taupe, almond, seaspray color
I'm thinking of making a blouse with these three colors.
this is so soft, you won't believe it.

I received a bunch of goodies from my mom and sister two weeks ago. I'm sorry I couldn't post it any sooner since last week was just one of those busy weeks for me with some church activities going on.When my mom went to the States, the only thing I wanted for "pasalubong" as what we call gifts from people who travel abroad are YARNS. A big thank you to my ever generous sister Joanna for buying these for me. Thank you Ate! It's quite hard to find these yarns here. I think there's just one store here in Cebu that sells yarns like the ones I wanted but in a ridiculously expensive price. I don't know what to do with these yarns yet except the Baby Soft one. I want to make a set of booties, mittens and a beanie for my nephew. Super excited to make those! I will definitely post it as soon as I'm finished with it. I also posted a picture of my crafts/sewing/hobby area. I used to sew a lot and I really miss sewing. But I don't know when I'll get back to sewing since crocheting kinda took over my world. Every time I look at this basket full of yarns it sort of pictures my life right now. I feel like God has been showering me with blessings that I really don't deserve. But I guess that's just the goodness of God. I don't deserve to go to heaven but I am. So all I can is, thank you Lord for all your blessings on me. :)

Lately

(Photos by Anna)

Lately my mind and my hands have been working non-stop. As you've read in my recent post, I've been working on renovating and decorating my room. While I was doing that I was also working on two crochet projects one after the other. They say when you start crocheting, you can never stop. There are always new ideas and patterns that you want to make and your list of projects goes on and on. But when you're doing something you really love, it seems like time passes by so quickly. I didn't even notice that summer is almost over. Anyways, I worked on the scarf for three weeks and the doily the next week. Now that my room is finished I'm thrilled to display my creations in their new home. I also posted some pictures of my room. I hope you like it. Here are the patterns for the doily and the scarf. Happy crocheting!
